Q: What is ULTRA Bond™?

A: ULTRA Bond™ is an environmentally friendly, resin based emulsion, blended with other proprietary products, that when applied to dirt and gravel surfaces creates a binding effect that stabilizes the surface and suppresses dust.

Q: Is there an odor associated with ULTRA Bond™?

A: When ULTRA Bond™ is applied there is a slight odor that quickly dissipates, usually within hours. Some describe the odor as a sweet smell. There is no need for respiratory protection for ULTRA Bond™.

Q: How is ULTRA Bond™ applied?

A: A distributor truck is the preferred method for applying ULTRA Bond™. While a gravity system will work, it is best to have a pressurized method to provide the best opportunity to penetrate the surface. Ultra Bond™ is applied in three applications of ½ gallon per square yard, then in about week another ¼ gallon per square yard, with a final application of ¼ gallon per square yard in about one month. But application rates can vary, based on the type and amount of traffic, road base material, etc.

Q: How often does ULTRA Bond™ have to be applied?

A: In typical situations, ULTRA Bond™ will last about a year. However in situations where there is high volume and/or heavy vehicle traffic, additional “maintenance coats” will be required. These applications are typically ¼ gallon per square yard or less.

Q: Is there a concern in using ULTRA Bond™ around bodies of water?

A: Not at all. ULTRA Bond™ has been independently tested using both the “Acute Ceriodaphnia dubia Survival Test” and the “Acute Oncorhynchus mykiss Survival Test”. Both tests were run on an emulsion/water mixture typically used in practice and proved successful in these aquatic studies and it was determined it will not harm aquatic life.

Q: Could ULTRA Bond™ leach into other areas?

A: Not if properly applied. Once ULTRA Bond™ “breaks” or “sets up”, it binds with the surface and remains there. Care should be given not to apply ULTRA Bond™ if rain is imminent.

Q: Can ULTRA Bond™ be used on surfaces such as asphalt or concrete?

A: No. ULTRA Bond™ is designed to penetrate the surface and bind it together. Therefore the surface has to be somewhat porous.

Q: What does the road surface look like once ULTRA Bond™ is applied?

A: The surface will have a dark look to it with a macadam-like finish.

Q: What color is ULTRA Bond™?

A: As it is applied, ULTRA Bond™ is a yellowish/brown liquid.

Q: Are there any health concerns with ULTRA Bond™ for human or animal life?

A. None at all. ULTRA Bond™ is non-toxic, non-flammable, non-volatile, non-corrosive, non-cancerous and non-mutagenic. ULTRA Bond™ does not require placarding to be transported.

Q: How should the road surface be prepared before applying ULTRA Bond™?

A: There are a number of surfaces which will allow ULTRA Bond™ to properly perform. Reclaimed road surfaces, millings, or surfaces with an adequate blend of stones and fines are ideal. The key is to have a surface that is a mixture of stones and fines.
